Kerala Art Lovers Association KALA, Kuwait general body meeting held at “Kakanadan Nagar” (Indian Carmel School) unanimously chose K. Vinod as President and Saji Thomas Mathew as General Secretary. 33rd KALA - Annual general body attended by 287 delegates selected from 27 units of KALA was inaugurated by renowned cultural activist of Kuwait Mr. K.P. Balakrishnan and felicitated by Mr. Sageer Thrikkaripur (KKMA), Sathar Kunnil (INL), Mr. Praveen (Kerala Association), Mr. Premson (Representing Congress committee). Several leaders of associations, Cultural unities and Malayalam media representatives of Kuwait, attended the inaugural session of the general body.

A lovely send off was provided to Mr. P.K. Janardanan, Mr. Sasidharan P.K & Mr. Jayarajan in the same function and mementos were presented by Sam Pynummodu. Mr. J Albert spelt out a brief history of them for the audience. The KALA-literary awards for the winners of KALA – Story & Poetry writing Competitions were distributed by Mr. Balakrishnan & Sageer Thrikkarippur.

Later the report for the year 2011 was presented by R. Naganadhan and financial report by Shinoj Mathew followed by the open discussion participated by 33 delegates representing different units. The presidium comprising of Sam Pynummodu, R. Ramesh, Joji Aipe & Santha R Nair functioned smoothly to carry out the agenda though out the session. Credential committee headed by Sudarsanan presented their report while the registration committee was lead by Shinoj Mathew, Food & Facilities by C. Krishnan, volunteer committee headed by Saji Mathew and the committee resolutions was lead by N. Ajithkumar.

The general body unanimously urged Govt of India for the formation of the Central water authority to resolve the current issues of water sharing among several states of India. Similar arrangements are very successfully executed to resolve such issues in different parts of the world and KALA reiterated the necessity to immediately convene the parliament of India to devise such authority with judicial powers. The conference also, passed several resolutions such as Implementation of the Comprehensive emigration law, finalization of the complete Lokpal bill upholding the democratic values, amicable solution on the Mullapperiyar issue between the two states, reinstate reasonable airfare in Gulf Sector by the national carrier and fuel price control to be brought under fully Government Authority.
Manikantan presented the condolence message while the message of appreciation was by Salim Raaj. Saji Thomas Mathew welcomed the audience while K.Vinod rendered vote of thanks.
